2023 BMFS Gear Swap
The date for the 2023 BMFS (Bob Mitchell’s Fly Shop) Gear Swap has been set, and it’s going to be Saturday April 29, 2023. There’s always a big turn out at the gear swap, and for good reason. It’s a fantastic place to find a great deal used gear. If you’re just getting started in fly fishing, this is a great starting place to acquire some gear of your own. The shop also has some items on sale, as well.
2023 Fishing License Renewal
Your Wisconsin fishing license expires today March 31, 2023. If you plan on fishing in Wisconsin you should renew it, and if you will be fishing for trout on the driftless streams you’ll need to add a trout stamp to your license.

Recently, I started helping edit Youtube videos for Josh Stevenson of Mighty Musky Guide Service. Josh is an exceptional fisherman, and his experience backs that up. He is also the Owner of Blue Ribbon Bait & Tackle in Oakdale, Minnesota which is right outside of Saint Paul. I’m really excited to be working with Josh to get his past seasons videos out, but I’m even more excited to get out on the water with him and create some fun and educational content for his viewers.

Lake Nights and Bluegill
I’m currently in Wisconsin, and fully enjoying lake nights and bluegill fishing from the pier. New to me this year is a 1 weight Redington Butterstick. I’ve been in love with this rod ever since I learned about it from my friend Robert Hawkins aka Bobby Nachos of Bob Mitchell’s Fly Shop.
